Academy Club Scheme
The Brentwood Academy Club scheme has been set up by Brentwood Borough Council to offer financial support to local sport and leisure clubs to assist in the development of young sporting talent.
2009 Academy Clubs are as follows:
- Brentwood Academy Volleyball Club
- Brentwood Cricket Club
- Brentwood Hockey Club
- Brentwood Rugby Football Club
- Brentwood Swimming Club
- Brentwood Trampoline Club
- Brentwood Youth ABC
- Champions Academy
- Glendene Cycling Club
- Hutton Football Club
- Kime Ki Martial Arts
- Recoil Twisters
The scheme is now closed and will open again in August 2010.
Clubs are invited to apply for a grant which will be awarded to them providing they fulfil the following criteria:
The Club must:
- Be based in Brentwood
- Be solely for young people or have an official junior section
- Have an established coaching and instruction programme in place
- Comply with government legislation in relation to coaching young people and relevant provision under the Children's Act (2004)
- Aspire to excellence
- Have members who can demonstrate Olympic potential
- Acknowledge the support given by Brentwood Borough Council
- Have Clubmark accreditation or can demonstrate working towards the Clubmark (or National Governing body equivalent)
In addition to financial support, Brentwood Borough Council will provide successful applicants with the following benefits:

- Public relations assistance
- Networking opportunities
